Welcome to the new website for the Greyhound Star.
Welcome to the Star’s new website. In the time that we have been off-line, a multitude of interesting new websites have appeared, and expectation levels have risen considerably.
As the editor of a newspaper whose saleable product is information, the concept of a website providing free copy is not an easy one to entertain.
The reality is, the vast majority of information on the ‘free’ sites could only have been originally produced by reporters and photographers being paid by newspapers.
So until someone is prepared to clothe and feed the Star staff, this site will only ever reflect a percentage of the copy contained within the newspaper itself.
In the medium term, I am confident we can make the Star available on subscription on line. While it could be available, password encrypted, immediately, the potential for abuse with multi users sharing one password, prevents us from going down that route at present.
On launch, I remain curious as which direction this site will eventually go.
I hope we can maintain an interesting and informative blog, and I would welcome constructive ideas from visitors.
Finally, I would like to thank Dave Yanez for his design and inspiration in getting us this far.
